My weekend consisted of hiking, summiting Mt Hood, visiting the LDS Portland Temple, and hanging out with babies. More pictures of Hood and LDS Temple to come!

 

Stacking Rocks

 

This is an edit of my little friend, Avery. I layered a landscape shot of the Hood River.

 

 

This weekend, my family and I went on a hike and stacked rocks. I'm in the process of creating a photo story of stacking rocks. I may combine some of these shots with the layered ones of Avery.

 

 

 

 

 

 Let me know which shots shouldn't be considered for a photo story or further editing.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both

And that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost "The Road Not Taken" is my favorite classic American poem. This weekend, I plan on taking pictures of different pathways/roads with people walking upon them. This is a quick edit of the trail up Dog Mountain. The pictures don't capture the "zen" essence I am striving to achieve. This weekend, I plan to summit Mt. Hood and visit the LDS Portland Temple. I hope to capture beautiful landscape shots, along with expansive landscape scaled with individuals. Next week, I plan on layering Temple shots with Mt. Hood pictures. I believe that individuals can have spiritual experiences through church and being outside.  The feelings emulated while being on top of a mountain is spiritually awakening and comparable to attending the Temple. I hope to illustrate that belief through layered pictures.

I don't like how the focal point is centered. Next class, I am going to place my model more to the right, to create more interest.

Layering Pictures

 

This was my final self portrait image from last semester. Does anyone have constructive criticism? I would like this image to improve and fulfill it's potential.

 

 

 

These are self portraits taken last semester. This weekend, I am skiing and going into Portland. While in Portland, I plan on running in Forrest Park. This park is an expansive running trail with many Douglas fir trees. I hope to capture macro and landscape shots from this weekend's adventures, and layer them with self portraits.

 

For this pictures below, I layered Mt. Hood with a self portrait. Along with that, I overlapped a sunrise at Timberland Lodge. I increased the contrast of dark and light to bring out the vibrancy of the mountain. The Mt. Hood picture reminds me of the yin and yang Chinese symbol. Everyone has a mixture of darkness and light, good/evil in them.

 

 

 

                                                                                                            

 

Dog Mountain

 

 

Last weekend, I took my friend on the Dog Mountain Hike. Dog Mountain is a beautiful, steep 6 mile hike on Washington Side. At the summit of the hike, you are rewarded with beautiful views of the Gorge on both Washington and Oregon sides. I strived to capture the beauty and simple elegance of the views and nature. I would like to use one of my landscape pictures, as part of a photo story. My fellow bloggers: which picture(s) do you enjoy?
